Sweden, Scania, Färs or Ljunits district
early 19th century
interlocked tapestry
51 x 83 cm
The weaver of this textile was clearly skilled and imaginative. The design features birds and reindeer, and hearts both inside and outside eight-pointed medallions. The birds arranged around the border are typical, but the heart-and-medallion motif is not known from any other examples.
