Materials: black silk, with coloured silk appliqués, relief-embroidered in silver and silver-gilt wire over cotton thread padding

Dimensions: 565 x 286cm

Script:

In layout, inscriptions and decorative patterns, this curtain is typical of those produced at the Dar al-Kiswah in Cairo throughout the 19th century and up to 1909, when the stylized palm trees decorating the lower end of the curtain were replaced with panels of elegant arabesques.
