The landscape is an evocation of the accompanying poem signed “by Imperial Command, inscribed on a springtime landscape, respectfully written by His Majesty’s servant Yu Minzhong”. The mountainous landscape scattered with the blossoming trees of spring expresses the sense of hope implicit in that season, while the minute figures in its midst prompt thoughts of man’s position in nature.
