Seat Cushion Covers (Rosette Medallion in Red)

part-piled on weft-faced plain weave

53 x 48 cm

Most of the surviving examples of cushions in the part-pile or half-pile technique were made in south-west Scania, and have fairly complicated designs with many details. This pair of south-eastern Scanian seat cushions, in contrast, have a simple medallion with hearts, and appear to have been quite loosely woven.
