Wooden Vase

wood

height 35.8 cm

This unusual wood vase, richly worked with a mass of shishi, is probably the work of former carver of the miniature carvings known as netsuke, motivated perhaps by the success of metal and enamel artists in creating decorative vessels for overseas buyers.
