Frieze Tile with Inscription

stonepaste body, with moulded relief decoration and lustre over an opaque glaze stained cobalt blue and turquoise

45 x 41cm

The broad central field contains a raised inscription in thulth, reading, ‘… of the emigration (hijrah) of the Chosen Prophet’. This suggests that the tile was at the end of a dated inscription.
