Stars are among the most commonly used ornaments on interlocked tapestries. They are found in a number of varieties, singly, in pairs, in rows, in lattices or as minor ornaments. The single star here is composed of four inward-pointing arrows, which are coloured to give a three-dimensional effect to the composition. The dark blue background adds to the dramatic effect.
